“He shoots a rainbow jumper'' is a statement listed in the basketball cliches and is one of the worst ones on there. The statement, “He shoots a rainbow jumper,” basically means he has a high shot which doesn’t sound right at all because it actually makes it seem like his shot is high as a rainbow and that doesn't sound right. A better expression would be that his shot is higher than a rainbow.
